Andrea Awada-Zeaiter

Director at ACCESS

Andrea Awada-Zeaiter has served ACCESS and the Dearborn Public Schools System for more than 30 years. Andrea was the principal at the former International Studies Academy from 2003-2005. She and her staff received county and state recognition for significant gains made in student achievement during her administration.

In 2013, Andrea retired as principal at Geer Park Elementary School. She was actively involved in the building design, curriculum planning and staffing prior to the school's opening in 2005.

Andrea has been actively involved with ACCESS since 1979. She has served on the executive board in various capacities, most recently as president of ACCESS and currently as president emeritus. She has also served on the executive board of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the YWCA, and the Allocation Panel and the Board of Review for the United Way.

Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Fouad Zeaiter, and her children Amanda and Michael. She loves to travel, swim, fish, go boating and spend time with family and friends.

She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Wayne State University. She currently spends much of her time in Naples, Florida.

ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services) has been serving the community for more than 47 years. Founded by a group of dedicated volunteers in 1971 out of a storefront in Dearborn’s impoverished south end, ACCESS was created to assist the Arab immigrant population adapt to life in the United States. Today, ACCESS is the largest Arab American community nonprofit in the United States. With 11 locations and more than 120 programs serving metro Detroit, ACCESS offers a wide range of social, economic, health and educational services to a diverse population.
