Shaharyar Ahmed

Shaharyar is a Managing Director in the Transaction Execution Services group with more than 15 years of experience in private equity investments and portfolio management in the U.S., Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia. His expertise allows him to focus on transaction execution and operational value creation engagements across a variety of industries.

Since joining Accordion, Shaharyar has worked on a variety of projects, including sell side-readiness, corporate development, portfolio value creation initiatives, carve-out planning and execution, post merger integration, stakeholder reporting, KPI development and implementation, budgeting and forecasting & organizational design. He has worked in a variety of industries including software-as-a-service (SaaS), technology, healthcare, pharma, logistics, business services, FMCG, and auto manufacturing while working along side a variety of leading private equity sponsors.

Prior to joining Accordion, Shaharyar served as the Principal and Co-Head of Growth Equity at Cyan Capital, an industry agnostic growth equity fund with a focus on South Asia & Middle East. He led all aspects of fund management including fund raising, team development, deal sourcing, evaluation, structuring, negotiations, deal execution and active portfolio management. He also served as a permanent member of the Investment & Management Committee in addition to holding multiple Board Director / Advisor positions at various portfolio companies.

Before joining Cyan, Shaharyar was a member of the Telecom, Media and Technology (TMT) investment team at the International Finance Corporation (IFC; $70b+ AUM), the private investment arm of the World Bank Group in Washington, DC. At IFC, he was involved in over 20 growth equity transactions across more than thirty emerging markets globally. He also held several Board positions at portfolio companies.

Prior to IFC, Shaharyar worked in the Global Investment Research division of Goldman Sachs in New York. Coverage sectors included TMT (cable and satellite, telecommunication services and equipment, Semiconductors, etc.) and REITS/Homebuilders.

Shaharyar holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Rutgers University and an M.B.A. from INSEAD, France.
