Melvin Layden

Melvin Layden is an experienced healthcare professional with a robust background in long-term care, infection prevention, and nursing. Since October 2021, Melvin has served as a Surveyor for Accreditation Canada and as faculty for the Long-Term Care Executive Leadership Course with HealthCareCAN. In a prominent role as Regional Director at Eastern Health since May 2005, Melvin has led operations for multiple nursing homes, ensured compliance with health standards, and directed infection prevention programs. Previous roles include Director of Health Care Services at WorkplaceNL and Continuing Care Coordinator/Public Health Nurse at Health and Community Services Central. Melvin holds a Master's degree in Nursing from Athabasca University and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Memorial University of Newfoundland, along with a Post-Basic Gerontology Program certification.
