Research Manager at Accuray

Carl Mauer has extensive work experience in the medical technology industry. Carl worked at Accuray as a Research Manager from 2013 onwards, where they led a team in designing and implementing a next-gen control system. In this role, they successfully transitioned from vxWorks to Linux, resulting in increased accuracy, system stability, and cost savings of $250K per year. Carl also has experience in embedded Linux using C++11, ZeroMQ, and Protocol Buffers.

Prior to their role at Accuray, Carl worked at TomoTherapy from 2004 to 2013 as a Senior Computer Scientist. During their time there, they made significant contributions to the development of two commercially released products: Volo plan calculator and Tomo Edge. The Volo plan calculator utilized NVIDIA CUDA C technology to improve performance by 10-40 times compared to existing cluster products.

Carl Mauer completed their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science & Mathematics from Carleton College, where they studied from 1991 to 1995. Later, they pursued a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they attended from 1998 to 2003.
