Michael Wallette

Michael Wallette has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Michael started their career in 1999 as a Computer Operator at Alaska Communications Systems, where they were responsible for job submissions, troubleshooting, and printing bills. During this time, they developed scripts to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

In 2002, Wallette became an IP Engineer at Alaska Communications Systems, where they monitored and troubleshooted a large data network, as well as installed and maintained customer-facing servers. Michael also provided tier-2 support for ACS' Internet customers.

From 2006 to 2014, Wallette worked as a Network Administrator 2 at United Utilities Inc. (UUI Alaska), configuring and maintaining network equipment, troubleshooting OSPF, and provisioning MPLS and ERP core. Simultaneously, they served as a Flight Instructor at Land and Sea Aviation, teaching aviation skills.

In 2014, Wallette joined Alaska Communications as a Systems Engineer, supporting the State of Alaska's data network and implementing QoS configuration changes.

Michael then worked at Cyberdata Technologies, Inc. from 2016 to 2019 as a Network Engineer, supporting a large data network for NOAA/National Weather Service. Michael participated in various engineering projects, configured and troubleshooted network devices, and improved network reliability.

Since 2018, Wallette has owned and operated Oceanfront Cafe, a seasonal coffee and baked goods shop in Whittier, Alaska. Michael manages all aspects of the business, from making decisions to promoting the cafe and serving customers.

In 2019, Wallette returned to Ace Info Solutions, Inc. as a Network Engineer, where they currently consult for NOAA/National Weather Service. Once again, they support a large and complex data network, participating in engineering projects and maintaining network devices.

Michael Wallette holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. In addition to their degree, they have obtained various certifications, including Brocade Certified Network Engineer from Brocade in July 2012, Basic Ground Instructor from the Federal Aviation Administration in January 2009, Microsoft Certified Professional, Windows 2000 Professional from Microsoft in June 2002, Network+ from Comptia in April 2002, A+ from Comptia in January 2001, Commercial Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1994, Flight Instructor from the Federal Aviation Administration in December 2020, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) from Cisco in October 2019, Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA-JunOS) from Juniper Networks in December 2018, and Juniper Networks Certified Associate - JunOS (JNCIA-JunOS) from Juniper Networks in November 2013.
