Gertjan Gielen

Gertjan Gielen has a diverse work experience in software development roles. Gertjan started their career in 2015 as a Software Developer at Profit Consulting, where they worked on various projects in different industries, including medical devices and dairy automation. In 2016, they joined Medtronic as a Software Engineer, where they developed a Windows software application for Deep Brain Stimulation products. Gertjan then worked at Optimus Sorters as a Software Engineer, specializing in designing and installing sorters for logistics and production environments. From 2018 onwards, Gertjan worked at Team Rockstars IT, first as a Lead .NET Software Developer and later as a Chapter Lead responsible for community building and organizing events. During this time, they also had several roles as a Software Developer at Code Sharp, Loyally, ZorgMatch B.V., and OnView, where they worked on developing innovative cloud software, integrations between CRM and CTI systems, software for Dutch legislation, and a management module. Gertjan's most recent position is a Lead Fullstack Software Developer at Achmea, where they are currently working.

Gertjan Gielen completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Security Technology at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht) from 2007 to 2014. During their time at the university, they also pursued a minor in Asset Integrity Management in 2011. Prior to that, Gertjan completed their Havo at Luzac College in 2007, where they studied mathematics, physics, Dutch, and science. Gertjan began their secondary education at Philips van Horne SG in 1999 and completed their Havo degree in Natuur en Gezondheid in 2006. In addition to their education, Gertjan obtained various certifications such as Certified SAFe® 5 Agile Software Engineer from Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2021 and Sitecore® Developer Foundations 9.0 and Sitecore® Platform Essentials for Developers 9.0 from Sitecore in 2019. Gertjan also earned the PSM 1 certification from Scrum.org in 2018 and completed other training and certifications, including "Shaping up with AngularJS" from Code School in 2017 and BHV (Bedrijfshulpverlener) in 2014.
