John Duan has extensive work experience in the semiconductor industry. John began their career at IDT - Integrated Device Technology, Inc. in 2000, where they worked as a Design Engineer on the development of a high-speed, low-skew clock buffer. John was involved in various aspects of the design process, including schematic design, HSPICE simulation, layout, extraction simulation, and functional verification.
In 2001, John joined Winbond Electronics Corporation America as a Senior Design Engineer. John played a leading role in the development of the Digital Potentiometer product line, where they were responsible for product concept, specs definition, architecture development, and circuit design. John also participated in full-chip mixed-mode simulation/verification, tape-out preparation/documentation, and silicon bench-testing. Additionally, John assisted in the development of test programs.
From 2006 to 2007, John worked at Ambarella Inc as a Staff Design Engineer. Their responsibilities included designing, simulating, and verifying ADC/DAC, LVDS, and Random Number Generator for the HD Video processor SoC. John also conducted silicon bench-testing and debugging of PLL and monitoring ADC.
In 2007, John joined Futurewei Technologies, Inc. as a Principal Engineer and Design Manager. During their time there, they led the development of xPON SerDes and PCIe Gen1-3 SerDes. Their role involved designing, simulating, and verifying various components, such as CDR/DFE loop, PLL/DLL, phase interpolator, high-speed comparator/sense-amplifier, CMU, and data muxer/demuxer. John also built Matlab/Simulink and VerilogA models for DFE/CDR loops and guided digital designers in the development of RTL code for digital control modules. John performed top-level Spectre/Mixed-mode simulation/verification and conducted silicon bench testing and debugging.
Most recently, in 2019, John joined Achronix Semiconductor Corporation as a Principal Engineer, where they continue to contribute their expertise in the semiconductor field.
John Duan holds a Ph.D. and MS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University. Prior to their time at Purdue, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics from Tsinghua University. Further details about the start and end years for these educational pursuits are not provided.
