Katherine Kumthekar is a dedicated mental health professional with extensive experience in social work and counseling across various healthcare settings. Currently serving as a trainee at the Ackerman Institute for the Family and as a mental health therapist at Directions Counseling Group since May 2021, Katherine previously held positions as a psychiatric social worker at Children's National Health System from October 2016 to February 2022, where responsibilities included conducting psychiatric evaluations and coordinating multidisciplinary care for children and adolescents. Katherine's earlier roles include medical social work at Elmhurst Hospital Center, providing support for HIV-positive patients, and counseling through harm reduction at New York Harm Reduction Educators. Katherine holds a Master's degree in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Chatham University.
