Tom Bastian

Tom Bastian currently serves as the Deputy Director for Communications at the ACLU of Missouri, a position held since March 2022. Previously, Bastian worked as a Web Project Manager at Digital Lagoon from August 2019 to March 2022 and as a Communications Strategist at GPS IMPACT, where responsibilities included serving as the primary spokesman for the statewide campaign Protect our Care Missouri, significantly influencing the 2018 election. Earlier roles included Director of Communications at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, where more than 15 media responses were crafted weekly, and Director of Communications for the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, overseeing the planning of memorial ceremonies for workers. Bastian has also held positions such as Acting Director of Communications at the Missouri Department of Labor, Employment Security Communications Deputy, and a Marketing and Community Relations Intern at Western Missouri Medical Center. Prior military service includes a stint as a Sergeant in the US Army, with deployment experience in Iraq. Bastian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from the University of Central Missouri.
