C. Daniel Bowes has a extensive work experience in various organizations and roles. C. Daniel is currently the Director of Policy and Advocacy at the ACLU of North Carolina. Prior to that, they worked at the North Carolina Justice Center where they held multiple roles such as Attorney and Policy Advocate, Director of the Fair Chance Criminal Justice Project, Senior Attorney and Policy Advocate, and Equal Justice Works Fellow. In these roles, they founded an advocacy project serving individuals with criminal records and coordinated a statewide alliance promoting policies for individuals with criminal records. Additionally, they worked as a Supervising Attorney and Attorney at the Legal Aid of North Carolina, where they led the delivery of reentry-focused legal services and supervised a team. Their experience also includes working as a Law Clerk at the North Carolina Department of Justice and the Center for Civil Rights, as well as a Law Clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division. C. Daniel also served as an Autry Fellow at MDC, inc, where they authored policy recommendations. Bowes also served as a Board Member at the ACLU of North Carolina.

C. Daniel Bowes received their AB in Political Science from Duke University, graduating in 2007. Following their undergraduate studies, Bowes went on to attend New York University School of Law, where they obtained their JD degree in 2011. C. Daniel focused their legal studies in the field of Poverty Law.
