Clio Gates is an experienced professional with a focus on justice and environmental issues. Currently serving as a Paralegal at the ACLU since July 2023, Clio is involved in the Criminal Law Reform Project. Clio also participates as a Campaign Member for Free Billie Allen and has previously worked as a Research Intern at Recidiviz and an Investigative Journalist for the Georgetown Prisons and Justice Initiative. With a background that includes roles such as Trip Leader for Apogee Adventures, Core Pathways Fellow at Georgetown University, and various internships, Clio has developed a diverse skill set in leadership, research, and community engagement. Clio holds a Bachelor's degree in Justice and Peace Studies, Environmental Studies, and African American Studies from Georgetown University and has participated in NOLS programs to enhance outdoor leadership skills.
