Jeffrey Stein

Staff Attorney, National Security Project at ACLU

Jeffrey Stein currently serves as a Staff Attorney for the National Security Project at the ACLU since September 2025. Prior to this role, Jeffrey worked as an Associate Attorney in the Sustainable Food & Farming Program at Earthjustice from August 2023 to August 2025 and also held an adjunct professor position teaching "Animals and the Law" at New York University from January 2024 to May 2025. Additional experience includes serving as Litigation Counsel at PETA Foundation, a Legal Fellow at Earthjustice, and term law clerk positions at the U.S. Courts of Appeals and U.S. District Courts. Jeffrey’s early career included internships at the Animal Legal Defense Fund, the ACLU, and the Knight First Amendment Institute. Educationally, Jeffrey holds a Doctor of Law degree from Columbia Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and Music from the University of Southern California.
