Makeba Barrat

Makeba Barrat is an experienced events manager with a strong background in fundraising and donor engagement. Currently serving as Events Manager for Donor and Brand Activation at the ACLU since March 2019, Makeba has successfully built the events program from the ground up, significantly exceeding fundraising goals for the Centennial Gala. Prior experience includes positions as Venue Manager for the 2019 New York Fashion Week, Special Events & Campaigns Manager at Grand Street Settlement, and Manager of Individual Giving at HEAF, Inc., where Makeba developed strong donor relationships and implemented successful fundraising initiatives. Makeba has also held roles in development and special projects at organizations such as the Ms. Foundation for Women and the Maryland Food Bank, showcasing a consistent track record of executing high-impact events and increasing donor engagement. Education was completed at Coppin State University.
