Bill Maxwell

Bill Maxwell has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple industries. Bill is currently working as a Software Architect at Acorn Labs since April 2022. Before that, they worked as the Director of Product Management Rancher Platform at SUSE from December 2020 to February 2022. Prior to SUSE, Bill held various roles at Rancher Labs from 2014 to 2020, including Director of Product Management, Senior Manager of Engineering Infrastructure and Operations, and Senior Software Engineer.

Before joining Rancher Labs, Bill worked as a Senior Web Engineer at Local Motors, Inc. in 2014, where they revamped the Scrum process and implemented visualizations of WIP, Burndown, and Production Metrics. Bill also introduced Boxen to the development team to ensure consistency in local dev environments.

In 2013, Bill was involved in Cloud Platform Continuous Integration and Delivery at GoDaddy, where they focused on DevOps practices and evangelized Continuous Integration and Delivery best practices across the company. Prior to that, Bill served as the Senior Manager of Product Development, Cloud Servers at GoDaddy.com from 2010 to 2013, overseeing the development and engineering of the Cloud Servers Infrastructure as a Service offering. Bill also worked as a Linux Engineer at GoDaddy.com from 2008 to 2010, automating the Email environment build-out using Puppet.

Before joining GoDaddy, Bill worked as a System(IT) Support Analyst, Sr. at Arizona State University in 2007, implementing CF Engine for system configuration and setting up SAN for home directories in the High-Performance Computing environment. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2007, Bill worked as an IT Engineer, Sr. at Qualcomm, where their responsibilities included setting up global infrastructure, building and managing LSF clusters, and creating the PXE provisioning system for Linux systems. Bill also worked on the Solaris Jumpstart environment.

Additionally, Bill has experience as an Independent Consultant from 1998 to 2004 and as a Safety/Training Intern at Sweetwater Authority in 2001.

Bill Maxwell has a strong educational background in the field of engineering and information management. Bill obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, starting in 2000 and graduating in 2004. During this time, Bill pursued additional studies in electrical engineering, ultimately receiving a degree in EE from the same institution.

In 2008, Bill attended Arizona State University and enrolled in the W. P. Carey School of Business, where they pursued a Master of Science in Information Management (MSIM) degree. Bill successfully completed this program in 2009. Additionally, Bill took courses in information management at Arizona State University during the same period.
