Long Tran-Thanh is a Professor and Deputy Head of Department (Research) at the University of Warwick since July 2020, with prior experience as a Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Southampton from October 2008 to July 2020. Currently involved in the ORCHID project, Long focuses on human agent collectives, specializing in machine learning, sequential decision making, and algorithmic game theory. Long's PhD research at the University of Southampton centered on novel methods for multi-agent systems, particularly addressing budget-limited multi-armed bandits. Additional experience includes software development at CERN and as a software engineer at Microsoft Hungary Consultancy. Long holds a PhD in Computer Science with a focus on Multi-Agent Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Game Theory from the University of Southampton, as well as an MSc in Computer Science from Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
