Ian McKendry

Ian McKendry is a prominent figure in the field of materials science and electrochemistry, currently serving as an Activate Fellow with Activate since June 2024. With extensive experience as CEO, COO, and Director of Materials Development at HiT Nano from June 2021 to August 2025, Ian McKendry has made significant contributions in developing commercially relevant lithium-ion and sodium-ion cathode materials through innovative synthesis technologies. Prior roles include postdoctoral research at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Drexel University, where research focused on electrochemistry and nanoparticle surface chemistry, respectively. Academically, Ian McKendry holds a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Temple University and a BS in Chemistry from Saint Joseph's University.
