Nathan Good

Nathan Good, PhD, is a co-founder of RareTerra Inc., which specializes in the selective mining of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) using bacteria, contributing to solutions for the volatile supply chain of these critical components. As an Activate Fellow at Activate Berkeley, Nathan Good supports scientists in launching startups to tackle global challenges, particularly climate change. In the role of Assistant Project Scientist IV at the University of California, Berkeley, Nathan Good has developed a microbial platform for recovering Rare Earth Elements, specifically focusing on gadolinium. Nathan Good also serves as an Associate Editor of Biodiversity for Frontiers for Young Minds, with a notable record of editorial contributions. Previously, Nathan Good was a postdoctoral researcher at Michigan State University, where significant discoveries related to lanthanide-dependent enzymes were made. Nathan Good holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Washington and a BS in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
