Laura Kennedy

Research Team Lead, Child Safety

Laura Kennedy, PhD, is a seasoned researcher specializing in youth mental health and child safety. Currently serving as Research Team Lead for Child Safety at ActiveFence, Laura builds a global child safety team to provide threat intelligence to Big Tech clients. Previous experience includes a role as Postdoctoral Researcher at King's College London managing the REACH research programme focused on social inequalities in youth mental health and a postdoctoral position at UCL, where Laura led the design of a developmental evaluation for a £5m adolescent mental health initiative. Laura's academic background includes a PhD in Criminology and an MPhil in Criminological Research from the University of Cambridge, along with a BA in Law from the University of Oxford. Additional roles include serving as an Affiliated Lecturer at the University of Cambridge and as a Research and Evidence Officer for Samaritans, where Laura managed the Online Harms Research Programme aimed at enhancing online safety standards.
