Acts Housing

Renters to owners, houses to homes, and blocks to communities: Acts’ families reclaim distressed housing stock and actually save money switching from renting to owning. Acts Housing believes that a quality, affordable home is the key to strengthening individuals, families, neighborhoods and the city of Milwaukee, and that homeownership should be available to all. More than 7,300 individuals, the majority of them children, live in homes purchased through Acts’ homeownership program since 1995. Children living in owner occupied homes perform better in school. Neighborhoods where families are homeowners form more stable communities. When a family is able to save hundreds of dollars switching from renting to owning, they are able to breathe easier. Acts Housing's mission is empowerment through homeownership. Our vision: to create vibrant Milwaukee neighhborhoods through homeownership. Acts Housing accomplishes this vision by providing key services to make sure home is available to families with income, credit, and language barriers. Throughout the process, Acts Housing’s staff act as supportive guides to families, by providing: • Financial literacy services and home buyer counseling • Nonprofit real estate brokerage • Home repair counseling • Micro-loans for home repair In short, Acts Housing is a one stop shop for homeownership, empowering strong families and individuals to become homeowners and reclaim Milwaukee's vacant, vandalized foreclosures.
