Elizabeth Yeu

Dr. Yeu earned her medical degree through an accelerated and combined undergraduate/ medical school program at the University of Florida College of Medicine. She completed her Ophthalmology residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she served as Chief Resident (2006-2007). Dr. Yeu continued to the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine to complete a Fellowship in Cornea, Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery (2007-2008), where she served as an Assistant Professor after her fellowship training. Dr. Yeu joined Virginia Eye Consultants in 2013, a partner since 2014, and she continues her commitment to residency training in Ophthalmology as an Assistant Professor at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. She is the Medical Director of the CVP Mid-Atlantic Surgery Center, served as the Medical Director of CVP Mid-Atlantic from 2019-2021, and she sits on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Eye Foundation.

Dr. Yeu provides guidance and governance across several national medical boards and committees, including as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. For the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), Dr. Yeu is currently President-elect for the ASCRS on the Executive Committee, and will be President in 2023. She is currently the Advisor to and the prior Committee Chair of the ASCRS Young Eye Surgeons (YES) Clinical Committee (2013-17). She also serves as the Chair of the Cataract Section of Ophthalmic News & Education (ONE) Network for the American Academy Ophthalmology (AAO) and works on the AAO Annual Meeting Program Planning Committee, chairing the Refractive Surgery section.

In addition to her dedication to clinical medicine and education of peers, Dr. Yeu works diligently to advance innovations in the eyecare space. She is an advisor to various companies related to cataract surgery, keratoconus, presbyopia and ocular surface disease (OSD) technologies. Dr. Yeu is Chief Medical Advisor to Tarsus Pharmaceuticals and the Chief Strategic Advisor for ACE Vision Group. She serves on the Board of Directors for Avellino Lab USA, STAAR Surgical, Tarsus Pharmaceuticals, and Ocular Science (OSRX).

Doctor Yeu has authored hundreds of articles and is a frequent lecturer nationally and internationally in the areas of refractive cataract surgery, anterior segment reconstruction, and lid margin and ocular surface disease management. Dr. Yeu is the co-Host of the popular webcast/podcast series, Ophthalmology Quicksand Chronicles. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief of U.S. Ophthalmic Review and co-Chief Medical Editor for Presbyopia Physician. She served as a Chief Medical Editor of the digital journal Millennial Eye from 2015-2017. Dr. Yeu has been voted by her peers to The Ophthalmologist’s Global Power List since 2017: Global Power List in 2022 and 2020, Top 100 Women in Ophthalmology in 2021, Emerging Leader in 2019, and Rising Stars in 2017. Dr. Yeu received the Women in Medicine’s Top Ophthalmologist Award in 2021, the inaugural Clinical Rising Star award in 2018 by the Ophthalmic Innovations Summit (OIS) and the Millennial Eye in 2015. She is a named Castle Connelly Top Doc (2016-2022), received their Exceptional Women in Medicine Award (2017-2018), and has been recognized with various “40 Under 40” awards business and ophthalmology.
