Dr. Kevin Waltz is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in surgical care of the eye. His practice is limited to challenging medical and surgical cases, with a special emphasis on optimizing refractive outcomes. He is widely recognized as an innovator in refractive cataract surgery and refractive lens surgery. He coined the name “Prelex” for refractive lens surgery in 2000. This term is now commonly used throughout the world. He has been invited to share his opinions, experience, and techniques across the globe.

Since the mid-1990s, Dr. Waltz’s primary professional interest has been in refractive surgery in its various forms, including refractive cataract surgery, laser vision correction, and refractive lens surgery. He was one of the first ophthalmologists to offer laser vision correction in Indiana. He is one the most experienced surgeons in the state of Indiana, with over 20,000 laser vision correction surgeries to date. He was one of the first ophthalmologists in the world to implant the Array multifocal IOL for refractive surgery. He is also thought to be the first ophthalmologist in the world to receive the Array multifocal IOL in his own eyes. He co-edited the standard textbook on the subject (Mastering Refractive IOLs). He is regularly asked to discuss cataract surgery and refractive lens surgery with surgeons and optometrists around the world. He participates in FDA clinical trials to develop the latest medications and implants to further improve and refine eye surgery in the United States.
