John Mayfield

John Mayfield possesses extensive experience in product development and design engineering. After retiring in May 2024, John served as Lead Design Engineer at Acuity Brands / Lithonia Lighting from August 1997, focusing on the design and engineering of fluorescent and LED luminaires. Prior to this role, John held the position of Senior Design Engineer at Optima Electronic Packaging Systems, where design work included electronic enclosures for prominent military and industrial clients, alongside leading ISO-9001 implementation efforts. Additionally, John served as Director of Design at Modular Engineering / Modular Dispensing Systems, responsible for developing a diverse range of food service equipment products. Earlier in John's career, a summer internship at Glashaus International involved fabricating and designing race car bodies. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design and a Certificate in Industrial Psychology from Georgia Institute of Technology.
