Alfonso José García Laguna

Alfonso José García Laguna has over 20 years of work experience in the field of desalination, wastewater treatment, and water technology projects. Alfonso José is currently employed as the Engineering Managing Director - Water Technology Projects at ACWA Power since March 2021. In this role, they are responsible for managing and providing technical solutions and support to ensure the best design in each project.

Prior to their current role, Alfonso worked as the Design Engineering Manager - Desalination, Wastewater and Reuse at Artelia from August 2017 to January 2019. Alfonso José also served as the Engineering Manager - Sohar IWP at Sadyt (SACYR) from March 2016 to July 2017.

Before that, they held various positions at Suido Kiko Middle East, Abengoa Water, SICE, Copcisa, SACYR, and UCLM, where they gained extensive experience in engineering coordination, project leadership, design engineering, and process/hydraulic engineering.

Alfonso is highly skilled and experienced in managing complex projects and providing technical expertise in the water technology industry.

Alfonso José García Laguna has a diverse education history. Alfonso José holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial - Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. Alfonso José also has a second MSc in Industrial Engineering - Chemical Engineering from the same university.

Additionally, Alfonso pursued a two-year Master of Science (MSc) in Civil Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Alfonso José further enhanced their expertise in Hydraulic Engineering by completing a Degree in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) from ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers).

Alfonso has also undertaken specialized studies in the field of Hydraulic Transients Advanced Analysis, earning a University Expert Degree from the Universitat Politècnica de València in 2018. Alfonso José later obtained another University Expert Degree in CFD - Computational Fluid Dynamics from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2020.

Currently, Alfonso is enrolled in the EAE Business School, pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Alfonso José is also in the process of obtaining a Master's degree in Occupational Risks Prevention, Health, and Safety from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. In addition, they have studied toward a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Universitat de Barcelona.
