Irfan Akhtar Pe Be Me

Irfan Akhtar is a professional engineer with extensive experience in various roles within the power and energy industry. Irfan has a proven track record of success in project execution, construction, and operations.

From 2022, Irfan has been working as the Director of Project Execution for Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems at ACWA Power. In this role, they are currently involved in a large-scale solar and BESS project on the NEOM Green Hydrogen Portfolio.

Previously, from 2020 to 2022, Irfan served as the Project Director at Masdar, where they played a key role in taking a 388 MWp solar project to Financial Close, working closely with finance, business development teams, lenders, and off-takers.

From 2019 to 2020, Irfan worked as the Executive Managing Director at Marubeni Power Asset Management Limited, successfully completing a 125 MWp Solar IPP project in Oman and achieving the Commercial Operations Date despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Irfan's earlier experiences include roles such as Technical Director at Prescon Engineering Pvt Limited, wherein they led a team of multi-disciplinary engineers and technologists. Irfan also worked as the Project Director for a 50 MW utility solar project.

Irfan has a background in Condition Monitoring and Data Analysis, having served as a Condition Monitoring Expert at Alstom Grid in 2015.

Furthermore, Irfan has held various managerial positions throughout their career, including Manager Operations/Construction at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power and Manager Maintenance E&I at Saba Power Company.

With a strong background in project management, engineering design, and asset condition management, Irfan has consistently demonstrated their expertise and leadership across a wide range of projects and responsibilities in the power and energy sector.

Irfan Akhtar has a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, which they obtained from 2009 to 2011. Irfan also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the same university, completed from 1991 to 1996. In terms of additional certifications, Irfan Akhtar has completed various professional and personal development training courses, focusing on the condition assessment and maintenance of electric assets. Irfan has also obtained multiple certifications from LinkedIn in areas such as executive leadership, agile methodologies, construction management, corporate finance, electrical systems, supply chain management, artificial intelligence, ESG (environmental, social, and governance), lean six sigma, quality management, organizational change impact analysis, banking basics, business analysis, change leadership, collaboration principles and process, and construction industry safety.
