Brent Rubell

Embedded System Engineer at Adafruit

Brent Rubell has been employed at Adafruit Industries since 2015. Brent began as a PCB Fabrication & QA, where they were responsible for preparing pre-populated boards and components for retail kits, testing, and rejecting boards and microcontrollers based off of defects from an assembly line. In 2017, they became an Engineer and developed open-source software and firmware which ran on Adafruit's hardware. Brent also wrote online tutorials for Adafruit to instruct and inspire customers on how to use Adafruit's hardware and software. Additionally, they were an Engineering Intern and worked on the Experimenters Guide for the Adafruit Metro Classic. From 2013 to 2015, Brent Rubell was a Summer Research Student at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, where they learned Intel x86 System Architecture and web application exploitation. Brent was able to leverage what they learned towards obtaining a bug bounty for Patch.com.

Brent Rubell has a comprehensive educational background. Brent attended Connetquot High School from 2010-2014 and then went on to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering in 2018. Subsequently, they attended NYU Tandon School of Engineering and obtained a Master of Science in Computer Engineering in 2019. Finally, they returned to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to complete their second Master of Science in Computer Engineering in 2021.
