Adaptation Fund
Mikko Ollikainen has extensive experience in climate change adaptation and environmental management, currently serving as the Head (Manager of the Secretariat) at the Adaptation Fund since October 2009, where key responsibilities include managing an international fund dedicated to climate change adaptation. Prior to this role, Mikko held positions at the World Bank as a Carbon Finance Specialist and Program Specialist (Environment), contributing to initiatives such as the reconstruction of Aceh Province post-tsunami. Additional experience includes roles in project coordination at the University of Turku, market entry representation for a Finnish environmental consulting firm in China, and various responsibilities in environmental cooperation programs in Europe and Asia. Mikko's educational background includes a Master's degree in Ecology and Biodiversity Research from the University of Turku, along with a Diploma in International Business with a focus on Asian markets.

Adaptation Fund
Since 2010, the Adaptation Fund has committed about US$ 1.1 billion for climate change adaptation and resilience projects and programmes, including over 165 concrete localized adaptation projects in the most vulnerable communities of developing countries around the world with over 43 million total beneficiaries. It also pioneered Direct Access, empowering countries to access funding and develop projects directly through accredited national implementing entities.
