Hugh Arnold

Chief of Staff, Operations Management at Adaptive Biotechnologies

Hugh Arnold has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Hugh began their career as a Research Technician at the University of Washington, where they genetically modified poplar trees to enhance their phyto-remediation capabilities. Hugh then moved on to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, working as a Research Technician and later as a Post Doctoral Researcher, focusing on projects related to prostate cancer and identifying circulating protein biomarkers for early detection.

Afterwards, Hugh worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at OHSU, conducting research on the molecular mechanisms of the onco-gene c-Myc. Hugh published several papers on the subject. Hugh then returned to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as a Post Doctoral Researcher, this time focusing on breast cancer and characterizing the involvement of ADAMTS8, ADAMTS15, and MMP8.

Hugh transitioned to industry by joining GeospizaSeattle as an Applications Scientist and later as a Technical Sales Engineer. Hugh played an important role in the acquisition of Geospiza by PerkinElmer and secured significant sales for the company. Hugh then joined PerkinElmer as a Product Manager, where they created a technical support team and facilitated milestones sales in the biotech/pharma market.

Currently, Hugh works at Adaptive Biotechnologies Corp. Hugh started as a Technical Support Manager and Product Development and progressed to roles including Senior Product Manager, Director Program Management, and Senior Director of Program Management. Hugh played a crucial role in the development and launch of several products and the expansion of Adaptive Biotechnologies' FDA approvals. Most recently, they serve as the Chief of Staff in Operations Management.

Hugh Arnold obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Washington from 1995 to 1999. Following that, they pursued their academic career and completed their Ph.D. in Molecular and Medical Genetics at Oregon Health & Science University from 2001 to 2007. In terms of additional certifications, Hugh obtained a certification in "How to Be a Good Mentee and Mentor" from LinkedIn in May 2021.
