John Yawney

John Yawney, Ph.D., currently serves as the Chief Analytics Officer at Adastra North America, where responsibilities include leading the North American AI team and scaling global AI competency centers. Previously, Yawney founded and directed Adastra's data science practice and held various academic roles as adjunct faculty at McMaster University and the University of Guelph, focusing on research and student mentorship in AI and anomaly detection. Prior experience includes a position as a Scientific Computing Researcher at the University of Waterloo, where oceanic models were developed, and roles in statistical research and teaching across institutions such as York University and Laurentian University. Yawney holds a Ph.D. in Computational and Applied Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, along with master's and bachelor's degrees in Applied Mathematics from York University and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Laurentian University.
