Julien de Smedt

Julien de Smedt has a diverse work experience in various industries. Julien started their career as a Private Teacher in Economics at My Sherpa in 2013. Later, they worked as an Ethanol Trading Analyst at Alcogroup SA, where they monitored risk exposure and analyzed ethanol and related markets. In 2016, Julien joined Agoria as a Strategy Analyst, conducting market analysis and promoting Belgium's high technology industry. Julien then worked as a Business Analyst at Accenture Belgium & Luxembourg, where they designed and implemented a market system for a Distribution Grid Operator.

In 2018, Julien became an Internal Consultant at Elia, leading projects related to the modernization of processes and managing a multi-billion investments plan for the national electricity grid. Julien then joined Lineas as a Business Intelligence Analyst in 2021, providing data cleaning, analysis, and visualization to support decision-making.

Most recently, Julien was a Junior Data Scientist at BeCode.org, where they participated in a 7-month AI Bootcamp. During this time, they worked on various projects including real-time earthquake detection from Twitter, extracting information from legal documents, fraud detection in financial transactions, and building recommendation systems. Julien also gained skills in machine learning modeling, artificial intelligence, NLP, deployment, data analysis, visualization, and IoT & Big Data. Currently, Julien is a Data Scientist at addData.

Julien de Smedt has pursued various educational opportunities throughout their career. In 2011, they began their undergraduate studies at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Économie in 2014. Julien then continued their academic journey and enrolled at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management again in 2014 for their Master's degree in Management Science, which they successfully completed in 2016.

During their Master's program, Julien also had the opportunity to study abroad at Aarhus BSS - Aarhus University in 2015. There, they pursued a Master's degree in Business Administration and Management, General for a year, expanding their knowledge and experiences in the field.

To further enhance their expertise, Julien de Smedt recently completed a Data Analyst training program at Bruxelles Formation Training in 2020, focusing on developing their skills in analyzing and interpreting data. Additionally, they are currently pursuing a Master's degree in Science in Data Science for Business at Ghent University, a program that they commenced in 2020.
