Sophia Kuen C. began their work experience in 2000 as a Co-op at Teradyne, where they conducted quality assurance tests on various products and upgraded test programs. Sophia Kuen then worked as a Co-op at Textron Systems, where they upgraded user module screens and assisted with acoustic experiments. In 2002, they were a Co-op at Tek Microsystems, learning VHDL and updating software manuals.

In 2004, Sophia joined CIMIT as an Admin Assistant for the Cardiovascular Program, providing administrative support for the program director and coordinating paperwork for grant submissions and new hires. Sophia Kuen also worked as an Admin Mgr for the Cardiovascular Imaging & Intervention Division at Massachusetts General Hospital, overseeing administrative support, coordinating NIH grant submissions, and evaluating research computing resources.

Sophia then joined IntelligentMDx in 2009 as a Bioinformatics Intern, designing and implementing GUIs and assisting with the quality control process. Sophia Kuen later became a Bioinformatics Programmer, developing Java-based bioinformatics applications and enhancing in-house applications.

From 2010 to 2018, Sophia worked at Harvard Medical School, starting as a Software Engineer and eventually becoming a Principal Software Engineer. Sophia Kuen led projects involving migration to Amazon Web Services, re-architecting and rewriting legacy tools, and integrating induced pluripotent stem cells into eagle-i.

Since 2018, Sophia has been working at Addgene, where they began as a Senior Software Engineer II and later became a Dev Team Lead. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Application Development.

Sophia Kuen C. holds a Master of Science degree in Applied Data Science from the University of Michigan - School of Information, which they obtained from 2022 to 2025. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Bioinformatics from Northeastern University, completing it from 2005 to 2009. Their undergraduate education was also at Northeastern University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from 1998 to 2003.
