David Messenger

Dr. David Messenger (he/him) is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He is an academic physician who practices Emergency Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Trauma at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre, where he is also the Chief of Emergency Medicine.

He has a background in medical education, with an emphasis on simulation-based teaching of resuscitation and critical care. He is a former residency program director for the Critical Care subspecialty training program at Queen’s. He completed his Master of Management degree from McGill University’s International Masters for Health Leadership program in 2017.

David has extensive leadership experience within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s, is a member of the Governing Committee of the Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Organization, and is past-president of the Clinical Teachers’ Association of Queen’s University.
