Abel L.

Abel L. has extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics and data science. Abel started their career at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Bioinformatics Developer, where they developed software for analyzing pooled shRNA screening applications and worked on custom software solutions for biological problems using High Throughput Sequencing data. Abel then moved on to ArcherDX, Inc. as a Bioinformatics Scientist, where they developed algorithms for high throughput sequencing data analysis, specializing in detecting fusions in RNA-Seq data. Abel later became the Group Lead Bioinformatics Scientist and then the Director of Genomic Analysis and Algorithms, where they led teams in developing commercial software for genotyping human tissue samples for clinical research and optimizing algorithms. Abel also worked at Invitae, initially as the Director of Software Research and Development and later as the Senior Director of Bioinformatics Engineering, supporting the oncology software development team and specializing in bringing precision oncology assays to market. Currently, Abel is the Vice President of Data Science and Bioinformatics at Adela, Inc., where they are responsible for leading the data science and bioinformatics team.

Abel L. holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Delaware. Abel also has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from The University of Texas at El Paso. In addition to their degrees, Abel has obtained the certification of Scrum Product Owner Certified from SCRUMstudy - Accreditation Body for Scrum and Agile in May 2020.
