Hestia Mellert began their work experience in 2005 as a Graduate Student at the University of Pennsylvania, where they focused on characterizing a post-translational modification on the p53 protein. Hestia then joined the American Cancer Society at CU Boulder in 2011 as a Postdoctoral Fellow, studying the regulation of gene expression and utilizing CRISPR gene editing technology. In 2015, Hestia started their career at Biodesix, Inc. in various roles, including Senior Scientist and Project Manager, Senior Scientist, Director of Molecular Development, Director of Development, and finally Senior Director of Development. Their work involved molecular development and project management. Currently, Hestia is the Vice President of Product Development at Adela, Inc., where they are responsible for leveraging machine learning and the methylome for multi-cancer early detection and broader clinical applications.

Hestia Mellert completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, General at Ursinus College from 2001 to 2004. Hestia then pursued their PhD in Molecular Biology at the University of Pennsylvania from 2005 to 2011.
