Luke Heffernan

Luke Heffernan has a diverse work experience in the field of space and technology. Luke has worked as a Special Projects Officer at the Australian Institute for Machine Learning, where they engaged with various stakeholders to communicate the benefits of machine learning. Luke also served as the Business Development Lead - Space and Project Manager at the same institute.

Luke has been actively involved in the space industry, working as the Strategic Initiatives / Co-chair at the National Space Society of Australia and National Point of Contact - Australia at the Space Generation Advisory Council. Luke has also founded Adept, an organization that provides practical project opportunities for university students in industries like space, defense, AI, and sustainability.

In addition, Luke has experience as an Operations Manager at Brainframe, Scholarship Coordinator at the Australian Youth Aerospace Association, and Founder and Director of nutriBarrier. Luke has participated in the Astra Program and worked as an Engineer and Intern at Frazer-Nash Consultancy. Luke has also been recognized as a Young Australian Space Leader in 2018 by the Australian Youth Aerospace Association.

Luke Heffernan has a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Adelaide. Luke also has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics (Experimental & Theoretical) from the same university. Additionally, they participated in a Winter School Exchange program at the Technical University of Munich, where they studied Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology.
