ADO Den Haag

ADO Den Haag is a professional football club based in The Hague, The Netherlands. ADO Den Haag was originally founded in 1905 as ADO, short for ‘Alles Door Oefening’ (Everything Through Practice). In 1971 ADO merged with city rivals Holland Sport to form FC Den Haag. The club obtained its current name in 1996, when FC Den Haag merged with ADO’s amateur department. Subsequently, ADO Den Haag was transformed to a Limited Liability Company in 1999. Throughout its history of more than 100 years, the club has won two national championships (1941/1942 and 1942/1943) and two Dutch FA Cups (1067/1968 and 1974/1975). In addition, ADO/FC Den Haag reached five FA Cup finals. After winning the last FA Cup, the club reached the quarterfinals of the 1975/1976 European Cup Winners Cup, eventually losing to finalists West Ham United in two spectacular matches. Studies performed by the KNVB (Dutch FA) show that ADO Den Haag has the potential of becoming (once again) one of the top clubs in The Netherlands. After opening a new, more regional centrally located stadium in 2007, this potential is slowly but surely taking shape. After 24 years of absence on the European stage, ADO Den Haag made its comeback during the 2011/2012 season.
