As senior vice president of Adobe's Engineering Technologies Group — part of the company's Office of Technology — Digby Horner drives and champions the company's engineering best practices for creating the highest quality products with the greatest operational efficiencies. Roughly 40% of a typical Adobe software product originates in Horner's organization, providing Adobe's product engineering teams with stable, tested components to rely upon for their own product development.
Horner's responsibilities include developing consistent and optimized user interfaces, localizing products for international markets, championing cross–functional technology initiatives, and managing the product lifecycle. He also plays a key management and senior technologist role in Adobe's global research and development centers, including the company's facilities in China and Japan, and manages the company's global sourcing strategy.
Horner joined Adobe in October 1986 as a member of the technical staff. During the first several years of his career at Adobe, he contributed to a variety of the company's technologies and product lines — including Adobe® PostScript®, Adobe Illustrator® software, fonts, and type technologies — and was an early technical advocate for globalization issues. In 1998, he was promoted to run Adobe's Core Technologies Group; more recently, his organization expanded to become the Engineering Technologies Group, and he was named senior vice president in 2005.
Horner is an active mentor for Women Unlimited, an organization that provides leadership development programs to Fortune 1000 companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and computer science from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
