Alexandru Giurgiu

Alexandru Giurgiu has extensive work experience in data engineering and business intelligence. Alexandru currently serves as the Head of Data Engineering and Business Intelligence at Adore Me since November 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Data Architecture Manager at Accenture from July 2021 to October 2021. Before joining Accenture, Alexandru held the position of Senior Data Engineer at Adore Me from September 2020 to July 2021, where they gained expertise in various cloud technologies and data management techniques such as data modeling, data warehousing, data pipelines, and data lake. Alexandru also has experience working as an Application Developer (DWH/ETL/BI) at Aera Technology from August 2018 to September 2020, as a Data Engineer at Transiris Corporation from February 2018 to August 2018, as a Database Developer/GIS Specialist at Romair Consulting from February 2017 to February 2018, and as a GIS Specialist at Prospectiuni S.A. from July 2014 to April 2015. Alexandru began their career as a GIS and Remote Sensing Freelancer, working from March 2015 to February 2017. Overall, they have a strong background in data engineering, cloud platforms, data governance, and data democratization.

Alexandru Giurgiu completed their Bachelor's degree in Geography and cartography at the University of Bucharest from 2010 to 2013. Alexandru then pursued a Master's degree in GIS at the same university from 2013 to 2015. In 2014, Alexandru participated in an Erasmus program at Harokopio, where they studied Geoinformatics for one year. Following this, they enrolled in Universitatea Tehnică de Construcții București and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Geomatics from 2015 to 2019. Additionally, they obtained a certification in GUI Development with Python and Tkinter from Udemy in July 2020.
