Gary Doernhoefer started their career as Senior Counsel at American Airlines in 1992, specializing in general commercial litigation and later focusing on antitrust matters. In 1998, they moved to American Airlines' Washington, DC office to assist with government affairs. In 2000, they joined Orbitz as Vice President and General Counsel, guiding the company through government antitrust review and overseeing a strong legal department. Orbitz went public in 2003 and was acquired by Cendant Corporation in 2004. From 2007 to 2010, Gary co-founded and served as General Counsel of Accertify, providing legal services and support for venture capital investment. Gary then joined the International Air Transport Association as General Counsel from 2010 to 2013. In 2017, they established Journera and led all legal support for the company, securing funding from major airlines and hotel chains. In 2019, they became a Senior Legal Advisor to focus on their new venture, ADR Notable, LLC, which they founded in 2018. ADR Notable offers a custom software platform for dispute resolution professionals.
Gary Doernhoefer obtained a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Law from the University of Chicago Law School. Gary attended the institution from 1981 to 1984. Prior to that, Doernhoefer earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Russian from Grinnell College. Gary pursued their undergraduate studies at Grinnell College for the period of 1975 to 1979.
