Bill Blackert

Bill Blackert has over 30 years of work experience in the software engineering field. Bill started their career at Nortel Networks, where they worked as a Test Engineering Co-op and later as a Sr. Engineer, focusing on enhancing system performance and ensuring high availability. Bill then joined Ciena, where they served as a Principal Engineer, leading software development projects and implementing new features. After that, they transitioned to Overture Networks, which was later acquired by ADVA Optical Networking, where they held the position of Senior Software Engineer II. In this role, they worked on Linux-based multi-service Ethernet system development, focusing on system performance improvements and high availability. Bill currently works at Adtran as a Principal Software Engineer.

Bill Blackert received their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University, where they studied from 1990 to 1994. Prior to attending North Carolina State University, they pursued Electronics Engineering at Western Carolina University from 1988 to 1989. However, they did not complete a degree at Western Carolina University.
