Philip McDermott

Philip McDermott is a distinguished academic currently serving as Professor of Sociology at Ulster University since September 2012, where previous roles have included Senior Lecturer and Lecturer in Sociology. In addition to this position, Philip McDermott is a Board Member at the North West Migrants Forum and has been a Co-Editor for the Anthropological Journal of European Cultures and the Irish Journal of Sociology. Further contributions to academia include serving as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with Advance HE and holding various external examiner roles at institutions such as Cardiff University and the University of Aberdeen. Philip McDermott holds a PhD in Sociology, focusing on migrant community languages in Northern Ireland, as well as Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Ulster University in Peace and Conflict Studies and Media Studies, respectively.
