Bill Fredericks

Bill Fredericks is an accomplished aircraft designer who has designed dozens of aircraft, 12 of which have achieved first flight. His two most notable designs are the NASA Greased Lightning and he performed the first conceptual design of what is now called the NASA X-57 Maxwell, a manned aircraft. Fredericks was a valued Aeronautical Engineer while employed at the NASA Langley Research Center in the Aeronautics Systems Analysis Branch. He is the lead inventor on the Greased Lightning patent and led the project from its conceptual design through its successful flight testing.

Bill Fredericks graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He is also a former artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 with a rocket artillery battery (HIMARS).
