Alexander Arriola

Photonics Team Leader at Advanced Navigation

Alexander Arriola has a wealth of experience in the field of photonics engineering. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Photonics Engineer for Advanced Navigation, where they are responsible for providing customers with high quality navigation solutions. In 2021, they joined Baraja as an Optical Waveguide Design Engineer, where they are responsible for designing, testing and validating a robust integrated photonic solution. Previously, Alexander worked for Macquarie University from 2014 to 2021, where they held three roles: Department Manager (Dual role) for Molecular Sciences, Technical Manager for the School of Engineering, and Senior Researcher/Project Manager (Astrophotonics). From 2013 to 2014, they were a Senior Researcher/Project Manager (Astrophotonics) at Heriot-Watt University. From 2010 to 2013, they held a Postdoctoral Fellow and Junior Researcher positions at CEIT and Macquarie University, respectively. Additionally, they were a Junior Researcher at CUDOS (Centre for Ultrahigh Bandwidth Devices and Optical Systems) from 2010 to 2011. From 2007 to 2008, they were a Researcher at Fatronik-Tecnalia, where they proposed a research project for the detection of falls by elderly patients. Finally, they were a Researcher at AIST from 2008 to 2009.

Alexander Arriola received their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics from Macquarie University between 2010 and 2013, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Microelectronic Engineering from University of Navarra between 2010 and 2013. In 2011, they completed a PADI Divemaster in Scuba Diving from KSub. Alexander also holds a Masters in Engineering in Telecommunications from University of Navarra, which they completed between 2002 and 2007.
