Mark Gibson

Mark Gibson has worked in the engineering field for the past 14 years. Mark began their career in 2006 as a Fitter and Machinist at Bale Defence Industries, where they completed an apprenticeship six months ahead of schedule and won Apprentice of the Year. During their time at Bale Defence Industries, they specialized in CNC machining, but was exposed to a wide range of experiences including site maintenance, welding, pump reconditioning, marine propeller repair, and hydraulic cylinder manufacture and repair. Mark also worked in the Mechanical Design office and helped move the company from Autocad to more modern 3D design tools (Autodesk Inventor).

In 2011, Mark Gibson moved to Weir Minerals Australia LTD, a member of the Weir Group PLC, where they specialized in manual and CNC machining. During their time there they optimized a number of operations significantly reducing cycle time on a number of components by up to 75%.

In 2014, Mark Gibson worked as a Lab Demonstrator/Tutor at the University of Newcastle. Mark also worked as a Mechatronics Engineer at Bale Defence Industries and BlueZone Group Pty Ltd.

In 2018, Mark Gibson began working at Advanced Navigation as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer. Mark also held roles as an Embedded Software Engineer, Research and Development Engineer, and Application Support Engineer. In their role as Application Support Engineer, they researched, resolved, and responded to a variety of customer technical issues, while also liaising with the engineering team to resolve software and hardware bugs discovered during support investigations. Mark also supported the sales team by meeting with customers in person, and preparing them for customer engagements. Mark also analysed and problem solved high-level complex issues and provided in-depth technical assistance to account executives, engineers, and product managers.

Mark Gibson has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechatronics) from the University of Newcastle and a Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (Trade) from North Coast Institute of Tafe.
