Joseph Miller

Joseph Miller is a Software Engineer and IT Specialist at AEA. He grew up Amish, had an 8th grade formal education, and had no experience with computers. In 2015, Joseph made the move from his Amish community in Canada to Bloomington, Indiana, where he taught himself the art of programming. Joseph was hired as an AEA Sales Consultant in 2016. Almost at once, rather than consulting, he began building tools to automate consulting tasks. Since then, Joe has developed a Program Calculator, an internal tool for the consultants to build recommendations for customers, as well as additional reporting and analysis tools. He believes that his transition from being an Amish kid with little education to the certified geek he is today is the American Dream come true, and that the AEA company culture has allowed for this transformation.

Joseph is leveraging his expertise and working with AEA to help farmers grow food as medicine. Joseph loves building tools that make the rest of the people who work at AEA more effective. He also has a superpower; a bullshit detector.
