Tim McCormick

Tim McCormick has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Tim is currently the VP of Engineering at Advarra since August 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Swrve for 13 years, starting as the SVP Engineering in October 2010 and leaving in August 2023.

Before Swrve, Tim worked at Kore.net as the Lead Engineer from January 2009 to October 2010, where they built a development team capable of delivering middle-ware to triple-A games studios. Tim championed the development process based on agile principles.

From August 2007 to December 2008, Tim served as the Research Project Manager at Trinity College Dublin, leading a research team in developing a high-performance virtual machine for the console games industry. Tim introduced best practices like continuous integration, TDD, code reviews, and Scrum.

Prior to that, they were a Senior Software Engineer at ammado, contributing to the frontend and web services of a social networking .NET application. Tim also worked as a Project Manager at Vero Solutions, managing distributed teams to deliver .NET business intelligence solutions for Telecoms across Europe and the US.

Tim's previous experience includes being a Lead Engineer at Acotel, where they created web services for mobile operators using PHP and MySQL, and a Contract Software Developer at AIB, contributing to an in-house securities and derivatives platform using C++ and .NET.

Tim began their career as a Senior Software Developer at Openwave Systems, where they played a crucial role in designing and implementing core components of a 3G mobile access gateway using C++. Prior to that, they were a Technical Team Lead at Email Ltd.

From 1992 to 1996, Tim McCormick attended Queen's University Belfast, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science.
