Valerie Barnes has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Valerie Barnes started their career in 1997 at Grady Health System as a CWOCN (ET) Nurse, where they worked until 2000. In 2001, they joined Kaiser Permanente as a Senior Manager Hospital UM, where they served until 2014. From 2007 to 2009, Valerie worked as a Real Estate Agent at Keller Williams Realty, Inc. In 2015, they joined Dimensions Healthcare System as the Director of Case Management, and in 2017, they moved on to MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center as the Director of Case Management and Population Health. Currently, Valerie is working at Adventist HealthCare as the Director of Care Navigations starting in 2023.

Valerie Barnes RN BSN MHA ACM-RN earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Registered Nursing from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University from 1980 to 1985. Valerie Barnes later pursued a Master's degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from the University of Phoenix from 2012 to 2014. In addition to their educational background, Valerie also holds the Accredited Case Manager (ACM) certification from the American Case Management Association (ACMA) and a Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
