Cristina Alvarez Alvarez

Cristina Alvarez Alvarez has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Cristina began their career at Alcatel-Lucent as a Switching Expert from 1993 to 1995. Cristina then joined Vodafone, where they held various positions, including CIO, Product Engineering Director, and New Business Director, from 1996 to 2006. From 2006 to 2017, they worked at Telefonica, serving as the CIO and Services Development Director, and later as the Services Development Director. In 2018, they worked as a Global Advisor at CAST and as a Consejera Independiente, Non Executive Director at SACYR. In 2017, they became a Senior advisor at IE Business School, where they were also the former Academic Director in the Executive Master in Digital Transformation and Innovation Leadership program until September 2022. Cristina continued collaborating with IE as a Senior advisor from September 2022. In 2017, they also joined AEDAS Homes as a Non Executive Director and President of the Technology Commission. Cristina became a Board Member at Openbank in 2020. Cristina'smost recent positions include Head of Technology and Operations in Spain and Europe, and Non Executive Director Santander Portugal at Banco Santander, where they have been since 2019. Additionally, they held the role of Global Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Banco Santander from 2019 to 2022.

Cristina Alvarez Alvarez's education history includes a degree in "Ingeniero superior de Telecomunicaciones" from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, which they obtained from 1987 to 1992.
