Joe Murphy

Senior Vice President, Chief Audit Executive at AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc.

Joe Murphy has a diverse and extensive work experience. Joe started their career at the Insurance Internal Audit Group, where they served as a Governor and facilitated discussions on best practices in the insurance industry. Joe then worked as an Associate General Auditor at New York Life Insurance Company before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Director, where they developed an internal audit co-sourcing practice. Joe later joined Pearson, Inc. as a Vice President and then Deloitte & Touche LLP as a Director, where they were responsible for the development of the Enterprise Risk Services practice. At Deloitte, they also served as a Firm Director and provided internal audit coverage for global clients. After that, they worked as a Managing Director at Accume Partners, where they were responsible for quality, client service, and new business. Joe then joined AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. as a Senior Vice President, holding roles as the Chief Audit Executive and the Senior Vice President of Internal Audit. Joe also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Lehigh University, where they developed and instructed a graduate level course on internal auditing. Additionally, they served as the Past President of the Philadelphia Chapter IIA, where they set the strategic direction for the chapter and achieved significant accomplishments in terms of CPEs, event registrations, membership growth, and accreditation. Overall, Joe has a strong background in internal auditing and extensive experience in leadership and management roles.

Joe Murphy has an extensive education history. Joe obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Finance from Lehigh University College of Business, where they studied from 1987 to 1995. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Management Science with a concentration in Accounting from Kean University, attending from 1980 to 1984.

Joe Murphy also graduated from Summit High School in 1972, receiving a diploma in College Prep after completing studies from 1969 to 1972.

In addition to their formal education, Joe Murphy has obtained several certifications. In 2008, they became a Certified Public Accountant through the NJ State Attorney General Division of Consumer Affairs. In 2012, they achieved the Chartered Global Management Accountant certification from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Finally, in 2013, they obtained a Certification in Risk Management Assurance from the Institute of Internal Auditors.
