Mickey Cushine has a diverse work experience. Mickey served as the President and Board Member at Active Bakersfield Alliance starting in 2017. In 2018, they worked as an Elementary School Teacher at PBVUSD. In 2019, Mickey worked as a Budweiser Pavilion Security and Guest Services Supervisor at Kern County Fair. Prior to that, they were a Supervising Security Officer at AEG starting in 2015. From 2014 to 2020, they worked as an Education Specialist-Activity Leader at Boys and Girls Clubs of Kern County. Mickey also worked as a Substitute Teacher and Substitute Intervention Aide at Panama-Buena Vista Union School District from 2016 to 2018. Their earliest work experience was as a Security & Usher Supervisor at Bakersfield Blaze Professional Baseball from 2010 to 2016.

Mickey Cushine obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice with a focus on Community Outreach from California State University, Bakersfield from 2015 to 2017. In 2014, they also obtained a Private Pilot License from the Federal Aviation Administration. In 2019, Mickey enrolled in Point Loma Nazarene University and completed a Teaching Credential program in General Education with a specialization in Multiple Subject, which concluded in 2020.
