Naomi Boness, Ph.D. has a range of experience in the energy industry, with a focus on sustainable and renewable energy sources. Currently, they hold the role of Co-Managing Director at the Stanford Hydrogen Initiative at Stanford University. Naomi is also the Managing Director for the Natural Gas Initiative at the same institution.
In addition to their work at Stanford, Boness has served as an Advisor for Ambient Fuels, LLC since July 2022, as well as a Friend of Veriten since May 2022. Naomi has also worked as an Advisor for geCKo Materials since September 2020 and as a Director on the Board of Directors for Aemetis since June 2020.
Prior to these roles, Boness held multiple positions at Chevron, including Upstream Strategy and Planning Advisor, Corporate Reserves Consultant, Strategy and Business Planning Manager for an Environmental Management Company, Senior Decision Support Analyst for Global Upstream, and Geophysicist. Their notable contributions include serving as Chair of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists Oil and Gas Reserves Committee and being elected to the Reserves Advisory Committee based on their expertise in geophysics and fiscal modeling. Naomi has also been involved in international initiatives, such as the United Nations Resource Classification Group, where they provided expert guidance on renewable energy frameworks.
Naomi Boness, Ph.D., received their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geophysics and Seismology from the University of Leeds in 1998. Naomi pursued further education, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Geological Sciences from Indiana University Bloomington in 2000. Additionally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geophysics from Stanford University in 2005.
